Applications are now being accepted through May 30 for those three and four year olds who qualify to attend Head Start offered through the Family Service Association.
The program is free to those who qualify. Some four-year-olds may attend a half day of pre-kindergarten and half day of Head Start.
Head Start promotes school readiness of young children by enhancing their cognitive, social, and emotional development. Services offered through Head Start include medical and dental services, disability services, family services, social and emotional wellness services, and nutritious meals and snacks.
To qualify, students must live in the attendance zone for a school that offers Head Start, which will be at a limited number of NISD elementary campuses for the 2014-15 school year.
