Bus Driver presented Northside Citizenship Award

February 27, 2013

Bus driver Anna Arguello was presented the Northside Citizenship Award for performing the Heimlich maneuver on a 7th grader from Luna MS that was choking on a piece of candy on her school bus. Through her quick action, she was able to dislodge the candy, allowing the student to breathe again. The Northside Citizenship Award was created in 1999 to recognize deserving individuals who make a positive impact on the Northside ISD community. The Citizenship Award is presented to individuals and/or groups whose actions are "above and beyond the normal day's scope of activities" and/or may be unique while benefitting NISD students, staff, and/or community members.
