Woods named new Superintendent

May 23, 2012

The Board of Trustees Tuesday night unanimously voted to hire Dr. Brian T. Woods as Superintendent starting July 1, 2012. He will replace Dr. John Folks who retires June 30 after a decade of leading NISD.

Woods was publicly named the lone finalist on May 1 and was officially hired by the Board of Trustees 21 days later, per state law.

“I want to build on the legacy of educational excellence that Dr. Folks leaves,” Woods said.

Woods, who recently earned his doctorate from the University of Texas at San Antonio, is currently serving as the Deputy Superintendent for Administration. The 20-year veteran educator has also served as a teacher at Marshall High School and as an administrator at O'Connor and Clark high schools.
