Parent meetings about End-of-Course tests scheduled for January

December 30, 2011

Every high school and middle school in the District will hold a parent meeting in January to provide information about End-of-Course tests.

The meetings are geared for parents of current ninth graders and seventh and eighth graders currently taking either Algebra I or Geometry. These will be the first students to take the End-of-Course tests, which are part of the state’s new standardized testing system called the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, or STAAR.

Students in 10th, 11th, and 12th grades will continue to take the TAKS exit exams.

Copies of the letter sent to parents as well as the full schedule of meeting dates are posted on the District’s STAAR website.

The NISD STAAR website also provides grade-level specific information about the new testing system, as well as testing calendars and resources for parents, students, and staff.
