2011 is the 50th year of the Texas Youth Art Month Flag Design Contest and Capitol Exhibit. Each year a winner in each division - elementary, middle, and high school -- is selected in the Flag Contest and 100 pieces of artwork are selected to hang in the state Capitol in Austin. NISD had the 1st place winner in the elementary division of the flag contest and also had one art piece selected to be hung in the state Capitol.
