Students head back to school Monday

It's back to the classroom for almost 100,000 Northside ISD students when schools re-open on Monday, Aug. 27. The projected enrollment is about 2,400 students higher than last year.

This year Northside ISD will open one new school: Los Reyes Elementary School. In addition, NISD will re-open an existing school with a new name: Lackland City Elementary School is now Jerry Allen Elementary School, in honor of that school’s longtime principal.

Northside ISD now has 71 elementary schools, 18 middle schools, 10 comprehensive high schools, five magnet high schools, and eight special schools for a total of 112 campuses.

Northside ISD’s Back to School website includes the most frequently asked questions, including information about registration, immunizations, calendars, school supply lists, bus routes, and more.

The last day of school is June 6. There are 88 instructional days in the first semester and 89 in the second semester for a total of 177.

Parents are encouraged to sign up for a SchoolMessenger account (see “Contact Manager” section) to receive text message and email alerts from their child’s school.
