Clark & Jay ROTC units named national champions; Brandeis cadets also excel

Three Northside ISD Air Force Junior ROTC programs are ranked tops in the nation receiving the majority of trophies and all four titles at the 2012 Air Force Junior ROTC National Drill Championship in Macon, Ga.
In the Armed Division,

  • The Junior Varsity cadets from Jay HS not only competed against varsity teams, but also captured five trophies winning 3rd place overall.
  • And the Silver Eagles from Jay HS added six more trophies earning the Air Force National Championship title in the armed division.
  • Clark HS collected six trophies securing a National Championship Runner-up title.
  • Brandeis HS landed four trophies, resulting in a 4th place overall.
  • Of the 28 trophies on display in each division, the armed teams won 21 trophies, the championship, and the top four spots in the nation. 

In the Unarmed Division,

  • Clark HS garnered a total of seven trophies earning them the Air Force National Championship title in the unarmed division.
  • Brandeis HS accumulated five trophies resulting in a National Championship Runner-up title.
  • Jay HS acquired four trophies leading to a 3rd place overall finish.
  • In the unarmed division, the teams won 16 trophies, the championship, and the top three spots in the nation. 

A cadet from another competing school was asked by his instructor,” What happened? Last year we did well. This year, we didn’t win anything.” The cadet responded, “Sir, Texas showed up!”
