More than 97,000 students headed back to the classroom when schools re-opened Monday. The projected enrollment is about 2,600 students higher than last year.
This year Northside ISD opened two new schools: Edmund Lieck Elementary School and Judge Andy Mireles Elementary School. Family members of both school namesakes welcomed children to the new campuses on Monday.
Northside ISD now has 70 elementary schools, 18 middle schools, 10 comprehensive high schools, five magnet high schools, and nine special schools for a total of 112 campuses. NISD is the largest Recognized district in Texas.
Northside ISD’s Back to School website includes the most frequently asked questions, including information about registration, immunizations, calendars, school supply lists, bus routes, and more.
As a cost-savings measure, Northside ISD no longer is printing school calendars or mailing them to students’ homes. However, a printable, PDF version of the 2011-12 official school calendar is available online.
The last day of school is May 31. There are 88 instructional days in the first semester and 89 in the second semester for a total of 177.
