Two new elementary schools welcomed to the NISD family

August 3, 2011

Northside ISD’s newest elementary schools are ready to open Aug. 22, when more than 97,000 students in the District head back to school.

Edmund Lieck Elementary School is named for a local education pioneer who built and taught at the Lockhart School, one of the original schools that established Northside ISD. The school mascot is the Lion and the school colors are royal blue, white, and black.

Judge Andy Mireles Elementary School is named for a district court judge and tireless advocate for children who created Bexar County’s juvenile justice system. The school colors for the Mireles Knights are red, white, and black.

Altogether, Northside ISD now has 70 elementary schools.

The official school dedication for Lieck Elementary School will be held at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 12. The Mireles dedication will be held at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 26. Family members from both school namesakes will be in attendance.
