The annual Western Art Contest and Exhibit recognizes outstanding artists interested in Western Art. The top 50 pieces are exhibited at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. The top 25 pieces are auctioned to the highest bidder, with each student artist receiving the full amount of the winning bid in the form of a college scholarship award.  NISD had a top 50 piece that was exhibited and a top 25 piece that was auctioned for a total of $12,500 in scholarship monies.
