February 17, 2011

Four young artists from Northside ISD are in the running for the Grand Prize in the Texas Cavaliers River Parade Art Contest. Among other awards, the winner will get to ride in the Texas Cavaliers River Parade on April 11.

Eleven finalists were selected based on San Antonio City Council districts. Northside had the most finalists of any school district.

The finalists from NISD are Isabel Lyda, a fifth grader from Lewis Elementary School, the District 6 winner; Nicolas Garza, fourth grader, Glass Elementary School, District 7; Anthony Rodriguez, first grade, Colonies North Elementary School, District 8; and Wyatt Cloer, fifth grade, Driggers Elementary School, representing the non-City Council District.

The Grand Prize winner will be announced March 8. In addition, each of these district winners' schools will receive $1,000 to be used for art supplies, a special visit from King Antonio, and a scholarship to Southwest School of Art for one full week of summer art camp.
