The 2014 Northside Education Foundation (NEF) 5K Run/Walk and Family Wellness Fair, presented by AXA, takes place Saturday, March 29. In 2013, almost 5,000 participated, setting a record for NEF and the need to super-size from NISD's Dub Farris Stadium to SeaWorld.

Fifty teams from across the state of Texas including Stevens and Warren high schools competed in the Texas Academic Decathlon (AcDec) this past weekend to a fanfare of well-wishers and supporters. With nine members per team, more than 450 students competed.

More than 600 NISD string students will have the opportunity of a lifetime when they learn from and perform with Mark Wood, a string master and founding member of the internationally- acclaimed Trans Siberian Orchestra. On Jan. 17 and 18, students will participate in Woods’ innovative program “Electrify Your Strings (EYS),” an intensive rock and roll workshop for school music education departments that boosts student self-esteem and motivation.
Parents of special needs students in PPCD through 12th grade are invited to attend a meeting to discuss transitional planning for their child while in elementary, middle, and high school. The meeting will be held at Driggers Elementary School on Monday, Jan. 13 beginning at 6:30 p.m.
