You’ve probably seen the Energy Star label on household appliances like washing machines and dishwashers, but it can also apply to schools. Zachry Middle School recently earned the Energy Star label for 2014 and will receive a decal and certificate to display at the school.

Four Northside ISD PTAs are named as 2014-16 National PTA Schools of Excellence. Leon Springs and Mireles elementary schools and Folks and Hobby middle schools are among 170 schools from across the country in receiving this special designation, and are the only schools in South Texas to receive it.

NORTHSIDE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR'S TAX RATE.

THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 0.41 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $0.00.

Celebrating its 20th year, the Northside Education Foundation (NEF) will recognize six outstanding NISD graduates as Pillars of Character at its annual gala. These six outstanding graduates include an elected official, a singer/songwriter, an optometrist, a businessman, a doctor/professor, and an architect.
