How do you get into college? How do you pay for college? How do I choose a career?
These are just some of the questions many high school students have but are not sure where to go for help. Recognizing that there was a need to make our students aware of what options are available for them after high school, the TEA awarded NAHS a 2-year grant to promote college and career assistance and as part of the 2012-2014 Online College and Career Preparation Technical Assistance Program.
As part of this awareness program, on March 28, 2013, NAHS juniors and seniors received answers to their career and college questions when they attended a presentation at Café College in downtown San Antonio. Café College is a community resource to help middle school and high school students maneuver through the murky waters of college and career planning. The students who attended received information about choosing a career, how to choose a college or vocational program based on their interest, and then learned about financial aid to help pay for it all. The participating NAHS staff, Ricardo Gomez, Michelle Flores (Head Counselor) and Christie Szabo, and the students who attended found the experience to beneficial.
