About Mead Elementary

Dr. Martha Mead Elementary School was built to accommodate 800 students in 50 regular and special purpose classrooms. The school was constructed for $20.2 million.

Mead, a 105,600 square-foot facility on a 115-acre site near the South Texas Medical Center, was designed to provide the most functional and attractive instructional environment for children and teachers. A state-of-the-art facility, the school has the latest in computer technology, a video distribution system that includes an in-house media distribution system, mounted monitors, and telephones in all classrooms.

Mead Elementary School is one of nine schools funded by the 2001 voter-approved school bond issue. The most up-to-date technology has been installed at Mead Elementary, including 161 computers, audio visual equipment and supplies, software, printers and phones totaling a $456,687 investment. Marmon Mok designed this neighborhood school, and Zachry Construction Corporation served as contractor.
