Joel Garcia, Vice Principal

It is my honor and privilege to serve as the vice principal of Monroe May Elementary. I'm excited to be here and I look forward to building lasting relationships with students, parents, and staff.

My career in education began 20 years ago in Corpus Christi, Texas, where I started as a 5th grade teacher at Carroll Lane Elementary. I also had the opportunity to teach at the middle school level for several years. After aquiring several years of teaching experience, I set out to accomplish a life long goal-to teach and live in a foreign country. I spent three incredible years teaching at the American School in Mexico City, where I eventurally met my beautiful wife. After moving to San Antonio, I fortunately became part of the Northside ISD family, and for 10 years I gladly served as the vice principal of Braun Station Elementary.

I grew up in Corpus Christi and graduation from Mary Carroll High School. I received my Bachelor's degree from East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas, and later my Master's degree in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. My wife, two kids and I are happy to call San Antonio home and we're happy to be living in such a vibrant city.

I invite you to come by the office and visit anytime. If you have any questions or concerns you may reach me at 397-2000 or email me. I look forward to working with you and your kids this school year.
