Calling All Roadrunners!
It’s hard to believe, but we are beginning the process of registering for the 2014-15 school year! Within the next couple weeks, all students will bring home an individually addressed envelope with a pre-printed AGR Registration Card inside. Parents must verify the information for each child returning to May next year, complete the attached cover letter. If your address has changed, please provide us with a recent proof of residency (utility bill, contract or lease). With the Ellison Elementary opening up next school year , some of our current students will attend Ellison based on boundary and/or program change. If you are slated to attend the new school, we will have a letter to explain the change. If you have a child turning 5 on or before September 1, 2014 they will be eligible to become a May Kindergartener! Kinder Round Up will be held on April 9 at 1:30 in our cafeteria. This is a great opportunity for you and your child to visit the school, complete all required registration information and visit with our kinder teachers as they explain what happens in a typical kinder day. Please inform your friends and neighbors so we find all of our future kindergartners.
NISD Bond 2014
As you may have heard, Northside ISD will be holding an election for a bond on May 10. Funds from the bond issue would be used to address the District’s continuing enrollment growth (building new schools) as well as the need to keep our exisiting schools up to standard. We will have a bond information program on Tuesday, April 8 at 6:30 p.m. It is the same night as our Reflections ceremony. I hope to see you there.
We have STAAR testing this month! The tests require a lot of endurance where students must show their work and prove their answers. We feel that our students are prepared and are very proud of the hardwork our students and teachers do on a daily bases to monitor their Knowledge and skills.

Accelerated Reader (AR) Update
We currently have the old version of AR and students may continue to take test on all books with the orange dot. However, since our computer deployment we cannot run reports to place in the student’s report card, look up a student’s AR summary or purchase test for new books. Our Language Arts committee is discussing options for next year, since AR is an annual costly program.
We will have our Career Day on May 9 from 8:00-10:00 for all students. We would like to thank all the parents who volunteer their time to be a guest speaker at this event. Taking time off of your busy schedule to talk to our children is greatly appreciated. Each year, the students really look forward to listening about different careers. If it weren’t for all of you, this day wouldn’t be a success!
