The District has an approved waiver request from TEA on senior exemptions. The exemption policy is as follows:
For the second semester of a student’s senior year, a student’s final examination for a specific course will be waived if all of the following conditions are met:
a) The student has three (3) or fewer days’ absence during the second semester excluding school business absences.
b) The student is passing the entire school year of a full year, one credit course.
c) The student’s average for that semester is an eighty (80) or better.
d) The Student’s conduct grade in that class for that semester must be satisfactory or better.
A student who is eligible for exemption may take the exam if he/she desires. Students who have been assigned to the Alternative School during the current semester are ineligible for exemptions.
Seniors are allowed two college visits that will not count against their absence total.
In addition, students who take TAKS this year and pass are exempt from the final exam in that subject. There are no exam exemptions for the EOC tests.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the Counseling Department.
