Poetry Celebration Time

It's poetry celebration time again!  Linton will immerse itself in poetry from February 3-12.  Students and teachers will read, share, analyze, and write poetry during this time.  Several activities have been planned in each grade level to ensure that students fully understand the different components of a poem.  Not only will this help them in their writing and creativity, but   poetry is being used more and more as a reading selection for students to answer comprehension questions on the reading STAAR test.  At home, introduce your child to different types of poetry from Dr. Seuss to acrostic poems to non-rhyming poems to poems with alliteration.  Stop by the school library or the public library to checkout poetry books.  Look for books written specifically for children.
