San Antonio Public Library:2014 Summer Reading Program
The theme for the summer is FIZZ, BOOM, READ! Students can begin signing up for participation on June 1. They can keep track of the books they read – or listen to – and receive a Reading Club certificate signed by Mayor Castro and a free paperback book to keep. Readers need to complete 8 books over the summer. Listeners (not yet independent readers) complete 15.  There are lots of free activities for kids all summer as well at all the branches of the San Antonio Public Library. Barnes and Noble Summer Reading:  Imagination 's Destination
Students read any 8 books and record them on their Reading Journal.They will receive a free book for read 8 titles from the list provided on their Reading Journal. This program begins May 20 and continues until September 2
Half Price Books--Feed Your Brain Summer Reading Program
Students are encouraged to read 15 minutes daily in the months of June and July. If students read 300 minutes and log their time on the Reading Log, they will earn Bookworm Bucks valued as $5 off a purchase at Half Price Books and they will be entered into contests for gift cards and other prizes.  
They are having a big kickoff --The Biggest Story Time June 8, 2014 at 2pm.  Great way to get them reading!!
Chuck E Cheese--Read daily and chart your reading for two weeks--earn 10 free tokens for Chuck E Cheese.
Book It! Pizza Hut--Sign up your children for the summer and they can chart their reading online.  They will be entered into contests for various prizes in the summer.  
Scholastic Book Challenge!  Students read and chart their reading minutes online.  They will be part of a challenge to read the most minutes collectively.  More information online at Scholastic Summer Reading.
