Hatchett students step back in time

December 20, 2012

Fourth graders at Hatchett ES got to step back in time and experience San Antonio’s history when they went on a field trip to Mission San Jose, the Spanish Governor’s Palace, and Casa Navarro. They learned about Spanish settlements and the missions of Texas by stepping inside these historic landmarks. The field experience was sponsored by The San Antonio Conservation Society.

The fourth graders are pictured with their teachers, Edna Garcia, Crystal Almendarez, and Lisa Castillo, in front of the rose colored window at Mission San Jose. Legend has it that Pedro Huizar carved the “Rose Window” for his lady-love, Rosa.
