Instructions for the NISD On-Line Application
** Please read ALL the instructions and information BEFORE
you proceed to the application. **

NOTE: Degrees and transcripts submitted to NISD for review must be from colleges and universities accredited by the U.S. Department of Education.

ALL APPLICANTS
The on-line application will ask for specific information. Please have all pertinent information ready before you begin the application. You will need your social security number, your university transcripts, your teaching certificate, and e-mail addresses and postal addresses for your three required references. The on-line application has certain required fields that must be completed (noted with a red arrow). Use the mouse or tab key to move from field to field.

IMPORTANT LEGAL NOTICE:

Effective January 1, 2008, Texas law requires that all prospective school employees submit to a fingerprint supported criminal history background check and be cleared for employment.

If you are offered a position in a Texas school district, you will be required to pay a non-refundable fee to submit a fingerprint supported criminal background check prior to beginning employment.

DISCLOSURE OF SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER
Northside is a public entity. Your application is considered a public document and is subject to disclosure, upon request, whether you apply with a paper document or through the on-line process.

You will be asked to provide your social security number as part of the employment process with Northside Independent School District. In accordance with the Federal Privacy Act of 1974, 5 USC 552 (a), disclosure of your social security number is optional except for purposes of reporting wages and taxes; however failure to provide this information may result in processing delays if we have multiple applicants with the similar last name.

Should you choose to disclose your social security number for reasons other than receiving wages and withholding taxes, Northside ISD would utilize your social security number for the following reasons: 1) Submission to the Safe Schools Project for the purpose of performing mandatory criminal background checks, 2) submission to the Texas State Board for Educator Certification for the purpose of verifying professional status or other licensure status, and 3) submission to the Human Resources Management System for the purpose of managing employment and benefit enrollment information. Should Northside ISD require your social security number for any purposes not listed above, HR will obtain your consent before utilizing the number.

ALTERNATIVE CERTIFICATION PROGRAM APPLICANTS
NISD will only consider alternative certification applicants that have met the requirements of the attached alternative certification guidelines. CLICK HERE to view the Hiring Guidelines for Alternative Certification Program Candidates.

INTERNSHIP APPLICANTS
NISD only accepts university sponsored internships if the applicant holds at least a bachelor’s degree, has completed all requirements except student teaching, and has successfully completed the subject area TEXES exams for the targeted teaching area. The internship must be in one of the following areas: Special Education (EC-12), Bilingual Generalist EC-4, Bilingual Generalist 4-8, Math 4-8, Math (8-12), Science 4-8, Science (8-12), Computer Science 8-12, Technology Education (6-12), 4-8 Generalist (Middle School with at least twelve semester hours in Math and/or Science).

POSITIONS FOR WHICH YOU APPLY
You will be asked to identify in order of preference your first, second, and third choice for teaching positions. Any position that requires a teaching certificate and/or a license WILL NOT USE “Posted Position” as a preference. Examples would be, Speech Therapist, Principal, Middle School teacher, Elementary 1-5, etc.

“Posted Position” will ONLY be used for those professional positions that do not require a teaching certificate. Some examples would be Food Service Director, Bond Construction Manager, or Grants Coordinator.

If you are certified all level PE, art, music, and/or theatre arts, put as your first preference the level you desire to teach. An example would be if you are all level PE and wish to teach at the elementary level, then your first choice would be Teacher: Elementary 1-5.

PROFESSIONAL REFERENCES REQUIRE AN E-MAIL ADDRESS
You must provide the District with three professional references. If you are an experienced teacher you are required to use your current or most recent administrator/principal as one of your three required references. If your experience is limited to student teaching, then you must use your cooperating teacher as a reference.

References will be e-mailed. To expedite the application process please include the e-mail address for all three of your references. Failure to do so will delay your application status and/or inactivate your application.

NOTIFICATION OF RECEIVING THE APPLICATION
Once you have completed the application you will receive an e-mail verifying that your application has been submitted to the Human Resources Department. Your application and documents will be reviewed. If you have applied for a teaching position you will receive an electronic e-mail regarding the status of your application within one week of submitting your application. If you have applied for a posted position, you will receive notice from the hiring official as to whether or not you will be interviewed for that particular posted position.
