What are “Potential Vacancies?”
I see that a lot on your Jobs page. Potential Vacancies are jobs that are filled from a general applicant pool, rather than a specific group of applicants who applied for a job at a specific location. We do not post a separate job posting for each vacancy due to the large number of vacancies that occur in certain positions like cafeteria workers, school clerks and instructional assistants.
I’ve noticed that some jobs are “For INTERNAL Applicants Only.” What does that mean?
“Internal” refers to CURRENT NISD employees – regardless of employee type. If you are receiving a salary from NISD, then you are an internal candidate.
How do I apply for the job?
Do I need to complete a new application for every job search? If you have not applied for a job in Northside since January 2011, you will need to complete a new online application using Winocular. Once you have completed the initial application, you can “attach” any additional jobs for which you want to be considered to your application. Instructions for doing so are on the Winocular website. But you MUST make sure that you have attached each and every job for which you want to be considered to your application.
Can someone assist me with the on-line application if I am inexperienced with on-line applications?
Persons who are unfamiliar with on-line applications or need assistance with completing this application can visit the Application Assistance Center at 5617 Grissom Road. Call 397-8600 to find out about days and times.
How do I attach a job posting to my application?
After you have completed the application form, you may return to the Winocular log-in and select the “Attach” option. (See illustration below.) The jobs will be displayed for your review and you can select the job(s) you want to apply for. This process will attach your application to each job posting you select.
How do I know whether my application has been completed successfully?
The Winocular system will send you an email confirming receipt of your application. It is complete if you remembered to also “attach” the application to a specific job posting.
Will I be notified each time I successfully “attach” additional jobs that I am interested in to my application?
Your notification consists of the alert you receive when you have selected an additional position: “You have successfully applied for this job.” You can also return to Winocular at any time to view the list of jobs for which you have applied, as well as to view the status of your returned references.
Will my references be contacted?
All references submitted by an applicant will be contacted via email upon receipt of your application. Northside requires that applicants selected for employment provide three references, at least one of which must be from a current or most recent supervisor. Our procedures require that before someone begins employment with Northside, the hiring official must speak to the applicant’s current or most recent supervisor.
If one of my references doesn’t return the reference form, can I provide a different reference?
Yes. You can add (but not delete or edit) references by returning to the Winocular application and going to the References section of the application.
What if I want to make changes to my application or provide additional attachments?
To make changes or provide additional information to the application, click on “Edit/Update App.” Applications may be edited or updated at any time. However, once a document is submitted, it may not be deleted.
What do I need to do to make sure that any changes or additional attachments are accepted?
After you have completed the changes or additions, you must be sure to complete the Agreement/Consent module at the end of the application. These can be verified by going to the “View Jobs applied For” section.
What if I have forgotten my log-in Password? How can I retrieve it?
The log-in page has a support procedure which prompts you to “Click Here” if you have forgotten your ID or Password. That procedure will send you an email with the password you used when you last completed the application. If you still have difficulty, you can send an email to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
How do I know if a position is filled? Can I contact the principal or hiring official to inquire?
No, do not contact the hiring officials. Nor do you need to contact the applicant Processing Center. Typically, vacant positions are filled within two weeks from the closing date of the posting. If you have not been contacted for an interview by that time, you may reasonably conclude that the position has been filled. If you were interviewed for the position and not selected, you will be contacted by the interview committee chairperson. The successful candidate will be contacted by the Human Resources Department with a job offer.
Can you tell me whom to contact if I have questions or difficulty completing the application?

Persons who are inexperienced with completing an on-line application may visit the Application Assistance Center at 5617 Grissom Road. Hours of Operation are Tuesdays, 8-10 am and 1-3 pm; and Thursdays, from 1-3 pm. This assistance is available to persons applying for Auxiliary job positions.
