Compensation Philosophy

It is the philosophy of Northside Independent School District to strive for and maintain a total compensation package that will attract and retain a superior workforce to successfully achieve the mission of the District in the most cost effective manner.

Compensation Objectives

• To provide current employees with competitive salaries in the job market in order to reward and retain experienced staff.

• To maintain competitive starting salaries to attract and recruit qualified applicants for all positions.

• To provide for continued pay advances for employees while maintaining payroll cost increases within available revenues and reflecting market changes.

• To develop differential pay ranges among jobs to reflect significantly different levels of skill, effort, and responsibility.

• To maintain benefit programs that are competitive with those prevailing within the industry and within the labor market.

• To comply with all Federal, State, and local laws ensuring that pay and benefit programs are not influenced by age, gender, creed, ethnicity, national origin, religion, physical handicap nor any other non-merit factor.

• To be flexible, simple to administer, and easily understood.
