Communities in Schools

CIS at Holmes HS

Who We Are

Our Mission: to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.

Who we serve:

We target students 9th through 12th grade that are considered at-risk by TEA eligibility requirements. If a student is not considered at-risk by the eligibility requirements we can still assist and serve the student through other services.

How we serve our students:

We do our best to help students address factors that may be influencing them in and outside of the classroom so that they can be successful in school. All of our services are FREE

Some of the services we provide are one-on-one counseling, group services as well as work with other school administrators to provide school wide events. Groups we have offered in the past are Junior Achievement, XY Zone (male leadership group), Inspire U (a city wide mentoring initiative), community service group and team building groups. We have school supplies all year round as well as food assistance for those students that may need it. We also offer families holiday assistance and social service referrals. We provide a wide range of support for students that are not limited to the above mentioned.
