Pack up your dinner (or purchase something from our food trucks!) and put on some dancing shoes! Its time for the annual family dance and picnic at Helotes Elementary! Dinner starts at 5:30pm and the dancing begins at 6:30. Bring your lawn chairs and blanks to the black top area. If there is rain, the evening of fun will continue in the gym! We hope to see you there Bulldogs!

Last week, Helotes Elementary students and staff celebrated Read Accross America Day with an entire week of Dr. Suess! Read Accross America Day is a nationwide event that takes place on March 2--Dr. Seuss's birthday. Happy reading Bulldogs!

Please join us for the first annual S.T.E.M. Night at Helotes Elementary! This fun event supports a love of learning for the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Each grade level will have engaging events for your family to enjoy, so join us this Wednesday, March 9. Doors open at 6:30 and activities will continue until 7:30. It's Kinder Roundup time at Helotes! All children who will be 5 years of age on or before September 1, 2016 are eligible to pre-register for kindergarden. The event will take place Tuesday, April 5th, 2016 from 4:30pm to 6:30pm in the Helotes Elementary Library.

The Folks Middle School Fine Arts Department will be hosting the Electives Fair on Wednesday, February 10, 2016. This will be a "meet and greet" event and parents may attend any time between 5:30 and 7:00 pm. The Folks campus counselor will go over elective choices during the event. As a preview, included below is a link to a video created by Folks MS featuring all the fine arts classes. It is approximately 10 minutes long and showcases each of the teachers as well as some of the current students speaking about their elective choice.

Elf Louise Christmas Project Toy Collection: Continuing our tradition, our school will be collecting toys for less fortunate families. This has always been a beneficial program to brighten the holidays of less fortunate children in San Antonio and Helotes Area.

- Orientation for Kinder, 1st, and 2nd grades will take place September 2nd. (Session 1: 5:00-5:45pm; Session 2: 6:00-6:45pm)

- Howdy Night is scheduled for Thursday, August 20, 2015 from 5:30pm-7:00pm. Parents/Guardians of enrolled students will receive a call reminder for the event.
- On Thursday, August 20, your student's teacher assignment for the new year will be posted on the bulletin board near the foyer. Additionally, your 2015-2016 teacher will give you a call welcoming your students to their class on the afternoon of Monday, August 17.

Helotes Elementary PTA is bringing Watch D.O.G.S. to our campus! The Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) program is a school-based father involvement program that works to support education and stafety. As a program of the National Center for Fathering, there are more than 4,704 schools in 46 states participating in the program which is supported by fathers, grandfathers, step-fathers, uncles, and other father figures who volunteer to serve at least one day a year in a variety of school activities as assigned by the school principal or other administrators.
