Aptitude, achievement tests, interest inventories, and college entrance exams are a few of the tests administered in Northside high schools. Although tests are not the only way to measure students' progress, they are useful indicators.
The TAKS test (mandated by the state) is administered during the ninth, tenth and eleventh grade years. Mastery of the exit level TAKS given first in the eleventh grade, is a state graduation requirement. See our awesome scores!Students of all grade levels take the PSAT prior to taking the American College Testing (ACT) and the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). Northside high schools are consistently above the national average. More than 60% of Northside Independent School District students enter college after graduation while at Health Careers that number is 98%.The school year for Health Careers High Schools is divided into two semesters of two nine-week periods. Report cards are issued each nine weeks. Three week and six week progress reports are sent home for evaluation of performance.Teachers, parents, or students may initiate conferences as needed. Free tutoring sessions are offered after school and in the morning by classroom teachers. Honor Society members also tutor their peers every morning in room 209 and on select Saturdays.
