The Northside Independent School District is committed to the belief that children come first. The mission of the district is to encourage each student to strive for personal excellence and to ensure all students learn to function, contribute, and compete as responsible individuals in an ever-changing world.
Elected by the people to govern Northside Schools, Trustees are the guardians of the public trust and, through the policies they make, are ultimately responsible for our schools. This responsibility and the accessibility of Trustees to the voters make the Board one of the purest examples of democracy in our society.
Appointed by the Board of Trustees, the Superintendent is responsible for providing guidance and direction for the District. The Superintendent implements all Board decisions and manages the schools in accordance with law and Board policies. The Superintendent is responsible for activities related to students and the instructional program, personnel, noninstructional operations, and the community. The Superintendent also serves as a member of the district's governance team and is responsible for supporting Board operations and decision making.
The Division of Administration is responsible for providing direction to all school personnel. Athletics, Northside Police, Pupil Personnel, Resource Planning, and Transportation are just a few of the areas that are handled by the Division of Administration.
Northside offers a broad selection of academic courses and electives. In addition to the core academic coursework, electives allow students to grow in foreign languages, the arts, and in other subjects. A comprehensive special education program is available for students who need additional assistance, and ESL (English as a Second Language) and bilingual programs are in place to help students for whom English is not the primary language.
The Business & Financial Services Department is responsible for the complex job of managing the District's budget and investments. Business & Financial Services oversees a number of departments including accounting, accounts payable, budget, cash management, finance, food services, payroll, purchasing, and special revenues.
