Los Leones Art Festival

Los Leones festival puts spotlight on student artwork in Northside ISD, San Antonio, TX

Hundreds of Northside ISD students (San Antonio, TX) turned one of its surrounding communities, Leon Valley, into a Mecca for art when they put their work on display and up for sale at the annual Los Leones Student Arts Festival, Oct. 20, 2007.  The annual Los Leones festival teaches students about the “business of art” and promotes an active arts community. The festival is now in its 12th year.

In addition to more than 2,500 pieces of quality student artwork, those who attended Los Leones, enjoyed music, food, a chalkfest, demonstrations by professional artists, balloon art, and caricaturists.

Two dozen judges representing area businesses selected their personal “pick of show,” awarding $25 prizes in the categories of elementary, middle, and high school art in an awards ceremony honoring the students.

This year’s Los Leones Poster and all publicity materials featured the artwork of Victoria, the winner of the publicity contest.  Victoria is a senior at Marshall High School and student of Linda Fleetwood.

The Los Leones Student Arts Festival is a partnership between the City of Leon Valley, Northside ISD, and the Northside Education Foundation
