District Founder’s Day Celebration

Congratulations to all of the elementary school , middle school, and high school fine arts instructors that work in the John Jay High School Cluster for hosting the 2014 District PTA Founder’s Day Celebration entitled “Be Your Kid’s Biggest Fan… Be PTA.”

Coordinated by Jay High School Theatre Director Nora Moreno Jarrell, the visual and music presentations of art, strings, mariachi, jazz, choir, dance, and theatre echoed the positive investment our campus PTA organizations have in students and learning.   Guests were greeted as they entered Jay HS with working visual artists, small chamber ensembles, string orchestra, choir, mariachis and a hot jazz ensemble.

Showcase productions included the Valley Hi Elementary Choir directed by Ellyn Sillick-Nash, the Rayburn Middle School strings directed by Heather Gonzalez, and a collaborative effort entitled “Rockateer” by the Jay High School band, choir, dance, and theatre departments.  The Jay debut of the giant lighted robot will be included in this summer’s NISD staff convocations.
