Upon completion of the graduation requirements set by the State of Texas, students will be awarded a high school diploma. Effective in the fall of the 2009-2010 school year, students that have transferred to Excel Academy from one of the Northside ISD high schools will be issued a diploma with the name of the campus from which they transferred. (This does NOT include transfer from Magnet Schools). For example, a student transferring from Warren High School, upon completion of graduation requirements will receive a diploma with Warren High School printed on it. Students who have not been enrolled at their home campus for one year or more, will be awarded an Excel Academy diploma.
Excel Academy students are only eligible to participate in either the Mid-Winter or summber Graduation Ceremonies. The Mid-Winter ceremony occurs in Early February and the Summer Graduation Ceremony occurs in August. Participation in the ceremony is voluntary, as long students have completed their requirements by the deadline set by the school.
Note: Students receiving a diploma from Excel Academy, regardless of what your diploma reads, are not eligible to participate in the home campuses’ graduation ceremony or other related activities.
Students who transfer from a school outside of Northside ISD, will receive an Excel Academy diploma. All students’ permanent school records will remain under Excel Academy regardless of what your diploma reads. NISD does not have and is not able to produce copies of diplomas.
Students will earn credit and obtain graduation status at their own pace. Learning habits, successful work habits, self discipline, personal abilities to gain essential knowledge and skills, and one's personal schedule are factors in the rate of completing the Texas requirements towards graduation.
The next graduation ceremony is the Mid-Winter Graduation Ceremony in early 2015. Details will be provided at a later date.
