General Library/Technology Information

MISSION
The mission of the Esparza Library is to work with the entire school community to create a child-centered environment that maximizes the academic, social, emotional, physical, and aesthetic development of each child. This is accomplished primarily through planning with grade-level teams, integrating the classroom with library instruction and resources.

CURRICULUM
Library instruction is driven by seeing the student as a life-long decision maker and problem solver. Instruction aims to provide each student with the tools to access information in order to make sound decisions and to solve problems well. The "Big 6" model is the primary format for research. Other library instruction explores the elements of various literary genres.

OPERATIONS
The library is open from 7:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Students in grades K-5 visit the library once a week for library instruction and book selection. Students in grades 2-5 may check out two books at a time, and Kinder and 1st graders may check out one book.

Parents may visit the library any time during our operating hours. They may check out five books at a time for a one-week period. The library also has a parent section that includes material on various methods to help one's child at home.
