8th Grade Students Take TCEA-TLA on January 17th

Texas students are currently required by federal law to be technology literate by the end of the 8th grade. The state defines a technology literate student as a student who meets the requirements of the state's Technology Applications Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Northside ISD has prioritized on a District objective of strengthening technology literacy at the 8th grade level, in accordance with the new STaR Chart/NCLB district reporting requirements. Beginning with the 2013-2014 school year Northside will use the TCEA-TLA. The 8th grade students at Connally Middle School will be taking the 72 question TCEA-TLA on Friday, January 17th. Students can prepare for this 72 question assessment by going to Learning.com and logging into the Practice Pretest. The username is their student ID number with a lower case s in front of the numbers. The password is their four by four (the first four of their last name and the last four of their social security number) and put Northside ISD where it asks for district. In other words, it is the same login that they use when they go to the computer lab at school and then you just need to add Northside ISD for the district. Students can also click the link below and take the sample test. As a family you and your student can work through the questions in both of these items to prepare for the assessment. If you have questions about the assessment or how you can help your student prepare for this important test, please contact the school CIT at 397-1000.
