All Connally students will be doing STAAR testing on April 22nd & 23rd. These tests are extremely important for all students. 6th & 7th grade students will be taking the STAAR Math test on Tuesday, April 22nd and the STAAR Reading Test on Wednesday, April 23rd. 8th grade students will be taking the STAAR Social Studies test on April 22nd and the STAAR Science test on April 23rd. Below are just a few reminders about STAAR testing to be aware of:

The State of Texas has instituted new graduation requirements for 8th graders entering high school next year. ALL parents of 8th graders need to plan to attend one of the following meetings at your student's comprehensive high school campus to learn about the many changes in the graduation requirements for all Texas 8th graders. These meetings are very important to help your and your student make high school registration decisions. If you have any questions, please contact the counseling office. The meetings are on the following dates:

Due to bad weather in January, students will be expected to attend classes on Monday, February 17th. All schools will be having regular classes on this day.

Texas students are currently required by federal law to be technology literate by the end of the 8th grade. The state defines a technology literate student as a student who meets the requirements of the state's Technology Applications Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Northside ISD has prioritized on a District objective of strengthening technology literacy at the 8th grade level, in accordance with the new STaR Chart/NCLB district reporting requirements. College and Career Readiness is a major focus of the Northside Independent School District. As a tool for helping our students make better choices in high school and to help them understand how college operates as a system and a culture, 8th grade students around the district will be taking the ReadiStep Test. Connally Middle School has been selected to participate in HEB's "Sampling Showcase on September 18th from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. at the HEB on 9255 Grissom Road. The "Sampling Showcase" is an event that recognizes area schools, their organizations, and their unique student talents, while also promoting distinctive food items at HEB for participants to sample and enjoy. As the days of summer begin, and the prospect of starting another school year seems far away, I am convinced that “in the blink of an eye”, another “Coyote Race” will begin, and based on our students’ diligent effort in ’12 -’13, I am confident that Connally is poised to “Set the P.A.C.E.” for Northside ISD in 2013-2014. If your student is enrolled in a class for high school credit (Geometry, Algebra I, or Spanish-any level) your child must meet both an academic standard and state attendance requirement. The attendance requirement states that your child must attend the high school class for a minimum of 90% of the scheduled class time in order to receive credit for the course. Read more....
