Colonies North Elementary School, named for the subdivision, opened in 1966 with twelve teachers, one principal, one secretary, a part-time remedial reading teacher, a part-time speech therapist, a part-time librarian, and approximately 360 students in the first through fifth grades. Previous principals include: J.B Passmore 1966-1969, James Carson 1969-1982, Jerry Allen 1982-1986, Patricia Blattman 1986-1992, Jean Miltenberger 1992-1997, Maricia Gregory 1997-2007, and Sonya Kirkham 2007.
