CCA Seniors attend financial presentation and cover topics ranging from budgeting, establishing credit, credit scores, retirement planning, benefits comparison, and information on establishing a business. The presentation was part of CCA's efforts to prepare students for the 2014/2015 build competition. Students will be required to look at all aspects of financial planning for the build.

Freshman tackle the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10 hour certification. As part of the Construction Careers Academy's advanced curriculum CCA freshman are required to complete the 10 hour OSHA certification. Over 158 freshman are poised to complete their OSHA 10 hour certification requirements at the end of September. Students have learned the value of safety in the workplace.

CCA had its first Parent Meet and Greet for the 2014/2015 school year. Parents had an opportunity to participate in a town hall meeting, tour the facility, learn about the Academy's programs and curriculum, and visit with the staff. Over 200 parents and students turned out for the event. The event was a huge success!

CCA Seniors took a trip to Fisher House, the Intrepid Center, and to tour the model homes at Hill Country Retreat. CCA seniors will build an ADA/Handicap Accessible home this year as part of the 2015 CCA Parade of Homes Container Living Build project. Students met with representatives and got a firsthand look at what it takes design and accomodate an individual with a handicapping condition. Students will use the information in the design phase of the build.

CCA & Warren Air Force Junior ROTC students honor 911. Approximately 50 Air Force Junior ROTC students gather around the flag pole to pay tribute to the fallen in the 911 tragedy. With the flag at half mass, the students honored the victims of 911 and their families with a formal ceremony and the reading of a tribute written by one of their own.

Tuesday, September 16th, will be the CCA annual Parent Meet and Greet. The event will start at 6:30pm in the Warren cafeteria. Parents will have the opportunity to tour the facility, meet with instructors, discuss projects, visit the build site for this years CCA Parade of Homes and participate in a Town Hall type meeting. The CCA Parent group will provide free hot dogs, chips and a drink--donations will be accepted. Parents will also have the opportunity to sign up for the CCA Parent Partnership team. Parents and students can also show their support and purchase the latest CCA spirit

Container Living Comes to Construction Careers Academy. The Academy's 2nd annual CCA Parade of Home Build will showcase container living. Students will convert five shipping containers into a living space that will include a living area, a kitchen, a sleeping area, and a bathroom.

CCA begins the 2014/2015 school year with 512 students spread out over four strands--strands that include engineering, construction management, architecture, air conditioning & heating, plumbing & pipe fitting and electrical. CCA students met in small group assemblies and discussed the expectations for the upcoming year.
