CCA students get a first hand look at what it takes to roof a house. Representatives from West End Roofing provide CCA students with on the job training. Students will use what they learned to roof two of the houses in the CCA Parade of Homes. Students learned how to use composite shingles to waterproof the homes.

Councilman Ray Lopez of District 6, San Antonio, visits the CCA campus. Councilman Lopez toured the facility, met with students, and greeted staff. Councilman Lopez toured the CCA Parade of Homes site and encouraged students to work hard and finish their education. Councilman Lopez acknowledged that campuses like CCA will serve an important role in providing highly qualified workers in support of the construction industry.

As part of Engineers’ Week, February 18th – 22nd, 2014, the Bexar County Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE) sponsored the annual “Engineer-for-a-Day” Program. Engineering firms in the greater San Antonio sponsored high school students interested in engineering careers. The NEF Prize Patrol Visits CCA. Phillip Edge and the staff of CCA were visited by Apple Eddie and awarded a NEF Innovation Grant. The $5,000 grant will go toward the construction of five micro homes to be showcased in the CCA Parade of Homes on May 17th. Left to Right: Board Member, Bennie L. Thursday, January 30th, all NISD 8th grade students and parents interested in attending CCA, in the fall, were invited out for an open house. Over 225 parents and students came out. Students and parents had an opportunity to visit with current CCA students, members of the CCA Parent Partnership, instructors, and staff. Visitors participated in a town hall meeting and were engaged in a question and response session. Parents and students toured the facility and received a first hand look at CCA's advanced program. It was a huge success!
