On Saturday, November 14th, CCA students attended the annual Skills USA Leadership Conference. Skills USA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. Skills USA provides educational programs, events and competitions that support career and technical education in the nation's classrooms.

Seniors from CCA partner with Texas Ramp Project. Texas Ramp Project builds wheelchair ramps throughout the state of Texas for veterans and elderly who cannot afford the high cost of a wheelchair ramp. A team of seniors partnered with Texas Ramp Project to design and build three wheelchair ramps.

The Warren High School Junior ROTC hosted its first annual Turkey Shoot. The event was a huge success. CCA takes top spots. CCA instructor, Krista Ackles, takes first in the Turkey shoot with the highest overall score. Phillip Edge, CCA Principal, takes third in the target shoot. A big thanks goes out to the JROTC for a hosting a great event.

Academy students visit UTSA. Fourty-eight students from the Academy take a tour of the UTSA campus. Students toured the facilities and received a firsthand look at the UTSA Engineering Program. The visit was part of CCA's ongoing efforts to expose students to opportunities in the construction industry.

Representatives from Moy, Tarin, Ramirez (MTR) Engineers, LLC met with CCA students. MTR provides civil engineering and survey services for a variety of land development types including commerical, residential, governmental, medical, religious, recreational, municipal and educational facility projects. Students learned about the field of civil engineering and how it relates to land development.

CCA students get a first hand look at water conservation. Student Architects, Engineers, and Plumbers get a lesson in harvesting grey water. Students learn the value of green energy living through harvesting water from something as simple as condensation from air conditioning drain lines.

As part of the Academy's ongoing efforts to expose students to the industry, engineering students visited the Hanson Aggregate Quarry in Garden Ridge. Students witnessed the blast and excavation of materials and the equipment used. Students toured the facility and met with Hanson officials. See More Pictures Here!
