George Lynn Britton, Jr. was first elected to the Board in 2003. A past Vice President of the Board, he currently is the Secretary of the Board and Chairman of the Academics Committee. He serves on the Technology, Building, and Policy and Intergovernmental Relations committees and is an Honorary Life Member of the Texas PTA.
Britton taught Mathematics at Jay High School from 1967 until his retirement as Math Department Chairman in 2002. He is a member and Past President of the Lackland Terrace Neighborhood Association and is Chairman of the Alamo Service Connection's (ASC) Budget and Finance Committee and the Bexar County/City of San Antonio Joint Commission on Elderly Affairs. Britton is a member of the John Jay Science and Engineering Academy Board of Directors, the San Antonio Board of Adjustment, the Lackland AFB Community Council on Restoration, and the Salvation Army Advisory Board. Britton also is a Past President of the Northside Educational Improvement Council and the Board for the San Antonio Educational Facilities Corporation Board.
Britton graduated from Marshall High School in 1963 and earned a bachelor's degree in Mathematics and English from Southwest Texas State University and a master's degree in Education from Our Lady of the Lake University. Britton's two children, now grown, are Northside products and attended District 1 elementary and middle schools and graduated from Jay High School.
