Dinosaur George visited Blattman Elementary to kick off our annual Be Excited About Reading (BEAR) Challenge. Dinosaur George shared many interesting facts and fossils, encouraging students to learn more about what interests them by reading!
During the 2014 BEAR Challenge, Blattman students are challenged to read a minimum of 6 hours, or 360 minutes, between January 10th and February 14th. Each student who meets or exceeds his/her goal will receive a Six Flags Fiesta Texas ticket, Bear Tag, and an invitation to a schoolwide celebration with Drum Cafe on March 7th.
A book drive is also underway during January and February to collect gently loved books (or new books) for use in Blattman classrooms. A display in the rotunda is set up to collect books for individual grade levels.
Check Friday Folders each week for more information. Blattman Black Bears are WILD about READING!
Happy New Year and Happy Reading!
