Blattman Library is now on the Renaissance Database! Thank you PTA!  What does this mean to your student?  Any book that has a published quiz is available for testing!  How do you know which books this includes?  You may go by the list below, because all of those books are still available and they have a red dot on the spine of the book which makes them easy to find.  Also you may go to Bookfinder http://www.arbookfind.com/default.aspx type in the title of the book and will instantly show whether or not it is an AR book.

*Reading Level

*Reading Level is established by Renaissance Learning. Don't use this strictly as an indicator of whether or not the book is appropriate for your child; rather, have your child read the first page of the book. If he/she reads it easily or with few errors (five or less), then that book is probably "just right."

Blattman students may participate in Accelerated Reader. Participation is voluntary and no grades are taken by classroom teachers on AR quizzes.
Accelerated Reader is a reading motivation program designed by Renaissance Learning in which students read designated books and take a quiz to earn points based upon the number of questions answered correctly. Books in the Blattman Library collection for which there are AR quizzes are identified with a red dot on the spine with the number of points available for that particular title. We currently subscribe to the AR Database. Students may take a quiz on the classroom computer or the library computers during the school day.
Once a student accumulates 10 points, the student comes to the library to receive an AR tag. Students are recognized at 10, 25, 50, and 75 points, receiving an AR tag at each level. At 100 points, the student receives a special "Master Reader" tag and a MasterReader card entitling the student to check out three library books (card must be presented at time of checkout).
Student advancements in AR point clubs are announced on the morning announcements on Tuesdays.
During end of year awards, three medals will be awarded at each grade level in grades 1 through 5 for the top AR students in those grade levels (1st, 2nd, & 3rd place medals) for the current school year. A trophy will be presented to the student who has accumulated the most AR points school-wide for the current school year.

Accelerated Reader is a software program distributed by Renaissance Learning. You may want to visit their website (ck link should be https://hosted155.renlearn.com/236751/HomeConnect/) to learn more about the program.
