On Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014, the Bernal community is invited to celebrate a school-wide dedication ceremony beginning at 6:30 p.m. The formal ceremony will include student performances, a video about the campus and school namesake, and remarks by dignitaries including beloved namesake Dr. Joe Bernal. A reception will follow.

Campus nurses are busy this summer calling more than 5,000 students who may be delinquent in updating their vaccines due to an increase in shots required at various grade levels.
Northside ISD is enforcing its “No Shots, No School” policy, which means students who are not up-to-date on immunizations will not be allowed to attend classes when the 2014-15 school year begins on Aug. 25.

The PTA Nominating Committee of Dr. Joe J. Bernal Middle School is at work to recruit a strong, dedicated executive board for the 2014 – 2015 school year. Be a part of this exciting inaugural year by contributing your unique experiences. Board meetings will be held once a month, and general meetings will be held four times during the school year.

It’s official! The students have voted and the Dr. Joe Bernal Middle School mascot will be the Black Knights. The school colors will be Black and Gold.
The Bernal Black Knights pays respect to the United States Military Academy at West Point whose mascot is the Black Knights. Dr. Bernal served in the United States Army.

All current fifth, sixth, and seventh graders scheduled to attend Bernal Middle School in 2014 – 2015 are eligible and encouraged to vote. The voting process will take place for only one week, February 24 – February 28.
The link to vote will be located on the front of the Dr. Joe J. Bernal Middle School website, and it will also be available on the website of Hoffmann Elementary, Langley Elementary, Lieck Elementary, and Briscoe Middle School.
