BC Seniors Eric Casarez and Roberto Garza were recently notified that they have achieved National Commended Status through the National Merit Scholarship Program. This distinguished achievement is a result of these two young men achieving extraordinarily high PSAT scores. Eric and Roberto have scores in the top 5% nationally among the 1.5 million students who took the PSAT in 2014. They have also been recognized as National Hispanic Scholars!

A bill signed into law by Gov. Greg Abbott this past month will require the state’s colleges and universities to give credit for scores of three or higher on many AP tests, which are graded on a five-point scale. This new policy ensures that students will receive the college credits that they earned as a result of their hard work in AP. Consequently, in the past thousands of students were unable to claim their earned credits due to the lack of a uniform policy among higher education institutions.

Freshmen and new Sophomores - if you missed the laptop training on August 4th, you can still complete your training on August 12, 13, or 14. Bring your paperwork (AUP, FERPA, WebPublishing), $60 insurance payment, and be ready to complete a 30-minute training on-site.
Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors (all returning students) - your laptop training can be completed online at eclassroom.nisd.net/bchs . On the eclassroom screen, log in with your NISD id (s######) and your password is your 4x4 (first 4 last name, last 4 of SSN). Click on "courses", scroll down and click on "view more" to find "Miscellaneous". Click on BCHS Laptop Training 2015-2016. The enrollment key is BCHS1314. Review the handbook material, complete all quizzes with an grade of 80% or higher. BE CAREFUL - NOT ALL QUIZZES ALLOW FOR MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS! After you have completed this training, bring your paperwork (AUP, FERPA, WebPublishing) and $60 insurance payment to room H210 to pick up your laptop. This may be done any time between August 5th and August 14th. You will also need to clear any outstanding fines before receiving your laptop.

The BC Parents Group is hosting the first annual Back to School Bash for all BC students. The event will take place on August 15th from 11am - 130pm between the H, F, A, and B Buildings. Food will include tacos, pizza, and chips. Live music will be provided by Anthem School of Music. Games will include ping pong, bocce ball, inflatable sumo wrestling, water guns, and sidewalk chalk. All students are required to bring a signed waiver in order to participate in the inflatable sumo wrestling. The waiver can be found here.
